Inflation on the rise again in Venezuela

Pressure from the US has accelerated the devaluation of Venezuela's currency. Nonetheless, people are trying to maintain a festive atmosphere with traditional purchases of seasonal ingredients and home decorations.

Luis and Agna, a young couple in Venezuela's capital Caracas, struggle with soaring prices and rapid currency devaluation as they prepare for Christmas. Despite reported GDP growth driven by oil, mining and domestic production, economists warn that inflation and exchange‑rate instability persist. Growing regional tensions add to public anxiety, yet the couple holds on to holiday traditions for a sense of hope.
