Normally a car's engine should run like ... a well-oiled machine. But if a car-owner neglects to change the oil on time, it can damage the engine beyond repair; and a new engine can be costly. By the time the oil pressure warning light glows red out on the road somewhere, it's generally too late.

Drivers therefore have to remember to change their oil regularly. Many have the shop do it - but in fact it's easy enough for anyone to take care of at home. Master mechanic Alexandra Feders walks us through the process and explains what to watch out for.
