Inside the AfD

August 28, 2026

"Inside the AfD" looks behind the respectable facade of the Alternative for Germany political party. Insiders reveal the tough tactics used by the right-wing populists to combat criticism.

Within the party, dissenters are systematically brought into line, while political opponents are labeled "troublemakers." Criticism is rigorously suppressed, and those with differing views are excluded.

To understand the methods the AfD uses to pursue its goals, and how these can lead to deep division within communities, the filmmakers travel to a village in southwestern Germany.

Residents share their experiences of targeted attempts at intimidation, while the investigative report provides deep insights into the structures of right-wing populist networks in southwestern Germany. These networks are representative of many communities across Germany in 2026.
