France has called on China and Southeast Asian nations to put more pressure on Myanmar's ruling junta. Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, currently on a visit to Southeast Asia, also proposed an international fund to provide economic aid to Myanmar, saying incentives are needed to bring about change.
