With the 2021 German federal elections, the era of Angela Merkel draws to a close. We want to meet the candidates vying to lead the country after her departure.

Janine Wissler currently serves as party co-chair and lead candidate for the Left. In an interview with DW, she faces questions from Rosalia Romaniec, head of current politics, and reporter Chiponda Chimbelu. They want to know: What is her vision for Germany? How would she shape international relations? Would she continue down the path Angela Merkel has led Germany, or steer in another direction?

Germany votes: the interview series with DW.
