Investigative report sheds light on organ trafficking
April 17, 2025German media outlets Der Spiegel, ZDF and DW spent months investigating an international organ trafficker network preying on the desperate.
Its members persuade poor, young Kenyans to sell kidneys for very little money. These organs are then sold on to recipients in Germany and elsewhere for up to €200,000 ($222,000), earning traffickers substantial profits.
There are indications that local Kenyan authorities and lawmakers are turning a blind eye to the practice.
