The permanent members of the UN Security Council, together with Germany, agreed Tuesday on the outlines of a new security council resolution aimed at persuading Iran to stop enriching uranium. According to Russia's foreign minister, it foresees direct talks with Teheran that would include the US. US officials said the resolution tightens existing sanctions. Washington has demanded a tough stance; Iran insists its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes only.
