Iran military analyst: Strike must target security apparatus

Iran's Revolutionary Guard has cracked down on protests against the regime of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. As the US threatens military intervention, Kasra Aarabi, an Iran military analyst, explains what a targeted campaign should look like.

US President Donald Trump has said repeatedly in recent days that he is considering military action in Iran to prevent protesters from being killed by state forces.

Kasra Aarabi, a director of research at United Against Nuclear Iran, told DW that only a precise military campaign targeting the headquarters and sub-headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps could disrupt the machinery of repression within the Iranian state under Ali Khamenei.
