Iran on uncertain footing amid rising regional tensions

Regional tensions are rising amid reported Iranian moves at the Strait of Hormuz and retaliation reported in Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait. Analyst Marina Miron says the tensions are volatile, given the risks to both the global economy and regional stability.

The Strait of Hormuz, a key link between the Persian Gulf and global shipping routes, is considered an international waterway despite Iranian and Omani territorial claims. The nearby United Arab Emirates also depends on access to this route.
