Giving blood regularly helps your blood to renew more rapidly, reduces blood pressure and lowers cardiovascular disease risk. Your immune system may profit, too.

Every year, thousands of lives are saved thanks to one critical resource: donated blood. In emergencies like accidents, childbirth, or major surgeries, blood transfusions are often the only lifeline. Yet despite medical advances, there is still no substitute for human blood. Now, research shows how donating blood can have health benefits for regular donors — from improved immune response to lower blood pressure.
