Ukraine says it will change a controversial anti-corruption law following a public outcry. Last week, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law that critics say weakens the independence of Ukraine's anti-corruption watchdogs. Zelenskyy has since proposed legislation to restore their autonomy.

A recent law placed two key anti-corruption agencies under presidential control, sparking backlash. Critics say it undermines reforms vital for EU accession. Despite progress, Ukraine still ranks low on Transparency International’s corruption index. Public pressure and international scrutiny are pushing President Zelenskyy to reverse course, but trust remains fragile.
