In March, Israel’s security cabinet secretly approved 34 new settlements on occupied West Bank land, including the "retroactive legalization" of 10 previously unauthorized outposts. Such outposts, illegal under Israeli and international law, often receive state funding, infrastructure and protection. Under the Netanyahu-led coalition, 102 settlements have now been "legalized." Such governmental approval changes the status of the settlements, accelerates expansion and deepens the impact on Palestinians, including land restrictions, displacement and settler violence.
