Israeli strikes flatten Gaza town in designated safe zone

Israel has scaled up its air and ground assault on Gaza City, forcing hundreds of thousands of people to flee south. But even there, there is no escaping Israeli strikes.

Israeli airstrikes have devastated Al-Zawaida, a designated "safe zone" in Gaza, killing dozens. Civilians, including children, search rubble for survivors. As Israel intensifies its assault, hundreds of thousands flee, but strikes continue even in overcrowded southern areas. Global condemnation grows. Some Western nations now recognize Palestinian statehood. President Mahmoud Abbas calls for a unified, demilitarized Palestinian state, while Israel rejects such proposals and presses on with its offensive.
