Israel's Gaza City assault drives two-state solution push

Dozens more Palestinians have been killed in Israel's military offensive. Amid mounting international criticism of Israel, there has been a renewed push for a two-state solution, with Portugal the latest advocate.

Israeli airstrikes on Gaza City have once again left the Al-Shifa Hospital inundated with injured and deceased Palestinians. Israel has urged civilians still sheltering in the urban area to evacuate to a humanitarian zone near Mawasi, but for many, the trip south is too much to bear. Meanwhile, Portugal has become the latest country set to recognize a Palestinian state.
