Hurricane Melissa caused unprecedented destruction in the Caribbean, particularly in Jamaica. New research suggests that climate change exacerbated the third most intense Atlantic storm on record.

Jamaica faces devastation after Hurricane Melissa. The worst climate disaster in its history, the storm left behind tons of debris, destroyed infrastructure, and caused damage equal to 30% of the Caribbean island's GDP. UN and climate experts link the hurricane's intensity to rising ocean temperatures driven by climate change, warning that such extreme weather is becoming more likely.
