Around the world, ever more Smartphone users choose to communicate through messaging services. The Japanese-developed app LINE is one of the market leaders. In just 3 years it's attracted over 460 million registrants -- mainly in Asia.

LINE began as a reponse to the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, allowing people to communicate when phone lines were down. Clever marketing has made LINE a top app across Asia. Its messaging service lets users send text messages, graphics, videos and hold audio or video conferences. Many people also use LINE as a social network. Now the LINE Corporation is positioning itself to capture a market share in the West.
