In the past, Adbusters has had various campaigns against the G8, and we have a long-standing critique of neo-classical economics, which are really at the base of the whole system of the G8. It is an economic paradigm that measures money flows but leaves out a lot, especially natural ecological flows.

We are in a time when climate change and ecological crisis jeopardizes human life. So there are some powerful contradictions that should be discussed at G8 summits, and up to this point they haven't really been discussed. Let's talk about the future of the planet at the G8.

I think the G8 is undemocratic; it's a very powerful club of the ones who are steering the world economy. They make sure the rich countries keep up an opulent way of life, and when it comes to Africa and the Third World and the environment those issues are pushed into the background.

I think what needs to happen in G8 summits is not to tune in to what global economic leaders are telling us but to fundamentally question what the global economy is really all about.
