Internet protests can seriously damage a firm's corporate image within hours. Some are now taking steps to stop that by keeping an eye on the Internet around the clock. For users, that means increased monitoring.

It’s now well known that intelligence services and Internet giants like Google trawl the Web gathering data. But now other sectors are keeping tabs on the digital world, fearing blows to their reputation as a result of Internet protests. With the help of special control centers, companies can monitor how their ad campaigns are being received and what topics are currently hot online. That way, they can react quicker to disgruntled customers before their rage gathers steam in a storm of protest.
