Kenya: Stampede at Odinga funeral injures, kills several

Two people were killed and several others were injured in a stampede at the state funeral of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Security services struggled to contain the surging crowd trying to see his coffin. Odinga died on Wednesday in India at the age of 80.

Thousands gathered in Nairobi to mourn the late Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga, a key figure in the country's fight for democracy. President William Ruto praised his legacy, while mourners hailed Odinga as the "father of freedom." The funeral turned tragic when a stampede broke out, causing multiple deaths. The unrest echoed events from the previous day, when police fired on crowds at Odinga's lying-in-state, killing several.
