Kosovo has granted the Serbian president Boris Tadic permission for a private visit to Kosovo, even though Serbia rejects Kosovo's declaration of independence.

Tadic will visit the Decani monastery in western Kosovo and spend Orthodox Good Friday there with monks and believers.

While Serbian sources said that Tadic had not asked formally for permission to enter, Kosovan sources said that they had granted permission.

According to reports, Kosovan authorities refused entry, but changed their mind on Thursday evening after strong diplomatic pressure from the United States and the European Union.

This is Tadic's first visit since last Easter, shortly after Kosovo's declaration of independence.
