Kyrgyz interim government has stepped up security in the capital Bishkek

Russia says it has no plans to send peacekeepers to Kyrgyzstan but says it may send advisors as part of a regional security bloc to avert further unrest. Thousands of refugees are still fleeing ethnic tensions in southern Kyrgyztan - trying to cross the border into Usbekistan. Humanitarian assistance has begun to arrive but the UN says it is still not enough. Meanwhile Kyrgyz interim government has stepped up security in the capital Bishkek.
