Burma's ruling military is threatening to take action against Buddhist monks who are leading the country's biggest demonstration in more than 20 years. The country's religious affairs minister said Monday that if senior monks were unable to restrain the protestors, the government would act according to its own regulations. +++LM-KARTE-REIN+++ More than 100,000 Burmese took to the streets of the main city Rangoon Monday in an ongoing protest against the military dictatorship, marching from a Buddhist shrine to the city centre. +++LM-KARTE-RAUS++ World leaders have urged the Burmese government to show restraint. France's Foreign Ministry warned the regime that it would be held accountable for any violent crackdown on the marchers.
