Latvia and Lithuania say a rising number of migrants are crossing irregularly from Belarus through hidden tunnels despite strengthened border defenses.

Latvian authorities recently discovered two tunnels used by dozens of migrants, while Lithuanian border guards have uncovered 12 similar passages.

The Baltic states accuse Belarus of deliberately directing migration toward the EU as part of a hybrid warfare strategy.

Officials say most migrants aim to reach Western Europe, particularly Germany, and warn the crossings are part of a broader effort to pressure and destabilize Europe.
