Leaders from Europe and the world gather today in Poland for ceremonies marking 70 years after the outbreak of World War II

Polish leaders have marked the 70th anniversary of the start of World War Two with a somber dawn ceremony on the Baltic penninsula where the conflict began - praising those who gave their lives to defeat Nazi Germany. In just a few hours - European leaders - including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian Prime Minister Vlaimir Putin will meet in Gdansk for other ceremonies to pay tribute to the tens of millions who lost their lives in the conflict.
