Sebastien Lecornu has been reappointed French prime minister, just days after resigning. President Emmanuel Macron reinstated him following a week of political turmoil. Lecornu now faces the challenge of getting a divided parliament to pass a budget for 2026.

France's previous and now new Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu has vowed to end the country's deepening political crisis and deliver a budget for the end of the year. But with a fractured parliament and no clear majority, forming a stable government over the weekend will once again be a major challenge. The far-right National Rally slammed Lecornu's reappointment as a "bad joke," while left-wing leaders renewed calls for change.
