Rita Ebel builds ramps for wheelchairs out of toy bricks. In Germany, there's still a long way to go to create accessibility for everyone. That's why the self-declared "Lego-Granny" wants to raise awareness and break down barriers — brick by brick.

Rita Ebel, a wheelchair user since 1994, builds ramps from donated Lego bricks to promote accessibility in Germany. Known as the "Lego Granny," she and her team have created over 140 ramps since 2019, helping wheelchair users, people with walkers, and parents with strollers. With her colorful ramps she wants to raise awareness about everyday barriers. They have inspired international support, with building instructions available in multiple languages.
