London was the big winner at UEFA's 2020 pan-European Championship draw in Geneva on Friday - and expectedly so. Reports of an agreement already in place between the two cities bidding for the final preceded the big announcement.

In exchange for making way for Wembley to host the EURO 2020 final, it's believed that England will support Germany's bid to host the next version of the tournament four years later all on their own.

Speaking to German channel Sky Sports News HD straight after the announcement, German Football Association President Wolfgang Niersbach said it was still his "main goal" for Germany to host a full tournament soon too.

Along with Munich, the three other cities hosting quarterfinals are Rome, St. Petersburg and Baku. It will be the first time the Azerbaijani capital will host a European Championship match.

Bilbao, Brussels, Budapest, Glasgow, Dublin, Amsterdam, Bucharest, and Copenhagen will host Round of 16 matches and the remaining group stage games.

EURO 2020 will be the first time Europe's biggest football tournament will be held in different cities across the continent, 13 in total. Wembley Stadium previously hosted the final of the European Championships in 1996, which Germany won.

Before 2020 though the next European Championships will be held in France in 2016. Qualifying matches have already got underway for that tournament. World Cup winners and current number-one ranked nation Germany, won their first qualifier against Scotland 2-1 earlier in September.
