Lufthansa to Cut 2,000 Jobs

German airline Lufthansa plans to slash at least 2,000 positions in Germany. The company wants to avoid layoffs despite doing so, a Lufthansa executive in charge of human resources told the German daily Die Welt. Most jobs will be cut at Lufthansa subsidiary LSG Sky Chefs, a catering business. The airline also wants to bring wages at LSG and its cargo subsidiary, Lufthansa Cargo, down to competitors' levels, the executive said.
