Madagascar's political crisis deepened over the weekend as the elite military unit CAPSAT joined the country's Gen Z-led anti-government protests in the capital, Antananarivo.
President Andry Rajoelina's office has condemned CAPSAT's mobilisation as an "illegal seizure of power," while reports claim at least 22 dead, though the figures remain contested.
Gen Z demonstrators, organizing through social media and without a unified leadership, have become the driving force behind the mass protests in Madagascar that began in late September over chronic water and power cuts.
