German hops growers are worried about the weak dollar - but retailers are worried about the lack of consumer spending. Germans are hoarding their Euros these days, reluctant to spend. Of course, their behaviour could have something to do with the recent price hikes: from groceries to clothing, everything has become more expensive. And by October, gas prices are also expected to rise here - and that's bad news with winter approaching. Consumers reluctance to shop is already showing up in Germany's GDP figures. We went to Europe's busiest shopping-street, the Schildergasse in Cologne, to find out more about the shopping mood in Germany.
