German Chancellor Olaf Scholz went to Magdeburg to express his condolences to victims of Friday night’s attack, when a driver drove his car into a crowded Christmas market. Authorities are still trying to establish his motives and how he managed to evade security measures around the event, says DW security expert Thomas Sparrow.
