Protesters upset about alleged corruption in the government's flood control projects clashed with security forces in the Philippine capital, Manila, on Sunday.

Violent clashes erupted in Manila as protesters have accused Philippine officials of embezzling billions meant for flood control. Officials said 70 police officers were injured and around 50 people arrested.

Demonstrators taking part in the so-called Trillion Peso March (named after the amount of flood control money they say has been lost to corruption) have demanded the recovery of the missing public funds and accountability.
