Manila Seeks International Help for Flood victims

The Philippine authorities have appealed for international help as rescue workers struggle to deal with the aftermath of the tropical storm Ketsana that triggered massive flooding in and around the capital Manila at the weekend, killing at least 140.

Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro’s appeal comes as weather officials warned of more bad weather this week.

Nearly 500,000 people have been affected by the flash floods in Manila. More than 110,000 of them are now staying in temporary shelters.
