Reus out injured
September 8, 2014Germany's national team midfielder Marco Reus has suffered his second injury of the year, and is now likely to miss another month of football.
The 25-year-old German international was injured in Sunday's 2-1 win over Scotland in Dortmund, after a foul by Scotsman Charlie Mulgrew.
His club, Borussia Dortmund, tweeted on Monday that Reus had suffered damage to ligaments in his ankle and foot during the challenge. Reus was treated for a number of minutes on the sideline by German team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt.
The injury is the second major one for Reus inside of three months, after he damaged the same ankle in a friendly against Armenia, shortly before the German team departed to the World Cup in Brazil, which the team then won.
Following that injury Reus had been told he would need three months to recover, but he was back on the pitch earlier than expected, in his club's first German Cup game against Stuttgarter Kickers.
Since his return from injury, Germany coach Joachim Löw had given Reus a starting position against both Argentina and Scotland. Reus had said he was getting back to 100 percent fitness but wasn't quite there yet.
