Elegant white hotels at the seaside, red-brick Gothic Hanseatic towns, and lordly manor houses throughout the countryside. More and more tourists are discovering the beauty of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. More than seven million tourists come here every year, and about a quarter of them visit the Baltic Sea beaches. Another popular destination is the state capital, Schwerin. Lake Müritz is the largest lake that lies completely in Germany. The lake is part of Müritz National Park.
