Meet Sharon Momanyi
October 26, 2017
I am a Kenyan from head to toe and an award-winning journalist. I was born in a small town called Eldama Ravine in the Rift Valley region of Kenya. I studied journalism and public relations at Daystar University in Nairobi then proceeded to get a master's degree in international relations at United States International University in Nairobi. I have worked at Kenya Television Network (KTN) News for four years now as a features reporter and prime-time news anchor.
My reports are often on topical issues ranging from the environment, health and education to science, human interest and socio-economic development. My reports have won a number of national awards. I ran an environment segment called "Eco Journal" which saw me travel across the country reporting on matters to do with the conservation of the environment, natural resources and wildlife.
I love reporting on, reading and talking about environmental issues — I'm very passionate about it! In a world that continues to grow its industries, and with a ballooning global population, conversations about conservation and innovative ways of promoting environmental wellness are key.
For these reasons, I am privileged to be a part of the eco@africa team. The show talks about what needs to be talked about, and highlights innovations in environmental conservation. It's a conservationist's paradise!
