After President Donald Trump’s first trip to Europe the fear is that the US is no longer a reliable partner. Is that fear justified? Guests: Rieke Havertz (Zeit Online), Alan Posener (Die Welt), Erik Kirschbaum (LA Times).

Alan Posener is an author and commentator for the daily newspaper Die Welt. He says: "The transatlantic partnership is more important than Merkel or Trump and will outlive both of them."

Erik Kirschbaum is correspondent for the LA Times. He says: "Merkel may have finally realized that the Trump administration is a not reliable partner for Germany and Europe at the moment – probably even an adversary. But she will certainly be able to differentiate between the Trump administration and the United States because in the longer term, the United States will be interested in remaining a reliable partner.

Rieke Havertz works for Zeit Online and is specialized on US poltics. She says: "With US President Trump we have seen a shift in the transatlantic partnership. But this relationship is based on far more things than the US president alone."
