At least three militants, including a commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group, were killed in a gunbattle in India-administered Kashmir, police said Friday. The fighting took place between an army-police team and the militants in Sopore town, more than 50 kilometers north of the state capital Srinagar. "The encounter began Thursday evening and three militants were killed in a 12-hour-long gunbattle that ended early on Friday," the state's senior police official, SN Sahai, told reporters in Srinagar. dpa
