Solar power capacity has tripled globally in the last five years, and there’s more to come. How did we get here? And how can we make sure everyone gets to benefit?

Solar energy is now the world’s fastest-growing and cheapest energy source, but its benefits are unevenly distributed. While countries like the UAE and Australia lead with large-scale solar farms, many high-potential regions, especially in Africa, lag due to lack of infrastructure and investment.

Rooftop and off-grid solar solutions are helping bridge this gap, offering affordable, decentralized power. Global efforts, like Mission 300 and international pledges, aim to expand access and triple renewable capacity by 2030, with solar playing a central role in achieving energy equity and climate goals.
