They were sneered at, mistrusted, and patronized, but also admired: the women French Impressionist painters. They had no formal training, but some of them exhibited in the Paris Salon, the most renowned exhibition of the time. Now, for the first time, a German museum is showing works by the four «Mistresses of Light»: Berthe Morisot, Mary Cassatt, Eva Gonzalès, and Marie Bracquemond in Frankfurt's Schirn Museum.
