Moldova faces increasing Russian drone incursions

In November alone, eight Russian drones breached Moldovan airspace.
One of them came down on a building in the village of Cuhurestii de Jos, just 50 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
On November 29, after two drones flew over Moldovan territory, the authorities temporarily closed the country's airspace as an emergency measure.
As the threat to Moldova grows, both the authorities and security experts warn that Moldova still lacks the capacity to defend itself against drone attacks.
Security expert Pavel Horea recommends introducing a system similar to "RO Alert" in neighboring Romania, which sends real-time alerts to mobile phones in areas deemed to pose a direct threat to public safety.
Meanwhile, the EU has pledged €20 million for the upgrading of Moldova's air defense. But until these improvements are made, the country remains vulnerable to drone incursions and exposed to uncertainty.
