The Molecule Man is a monumental work of art which was designed by US artist Jonathan Borofsky and installed in May 1999 on the river Spree in Berlin.

The location was carefully chosen. The 30-meter sculpture stands at exactly the point where the former East and West Germany met. The aluminum sculpture of three humans leaning into each other in a circle was to symbolize the coming together of the city districts of Kreuzberg, Treptow and Friedrichshain. The bodies of the sculptures are filled with hundreds of holes, which symbolize the molecules of all human beings – hence the name Molecule Man.
