Leaving Islam … converting to another religion … is punisheable by death … at least in the eyes of fundamentalist Muslims. Scholars are still arguing over exactly what the Koran says. But it´s a simple fact that the roughly 200 Muslims who convert to Christianity every year here in Germany are subject to all sorts of harassment … including death threats. Many of them suffer in silence. Others are more open about it … like the small community of converts we visited, in the western city of Cologne.
