The yellow and black markings work as camouflage in the tortues natural surroundings, Vicki Hudson explains. The species is considered "critically endangered," less than 1000 individuals might be left in the wild. Their habitat is continued being fragmented and decreased in size. It is also predation from things like wild pigs, dogs, crows and runaway fires affects habitats, this decimates in seconds.
