A massive wildfire that ravaged Namibia's Etosha National Park, a major tourist center and ecological reserved, has now been contained. The fire destroyed over one-third of the park and killed countless animals.

A massive wildfire that began on September 22 in Namibia’s Etosha National Park has been contained after burning more than one-third of the park. Believed to have started from charcoal production activities, the fire caused significant ecological damage, killing several antelope and further threatening endangered species  such as the black rhinoceros. More than 540 soldiers, as well as helicopters and volunteers helped fight the blaze. Tourism and grazing lands were heavily affected.
