Russian President Vladimir Putin has strongly criticized NATO's eastward expansion plans - but ruled out chances of a new Cold War. At the alliance's Bucharest summit, he also emphasized Russia's positve ties with NATO - pointing to his agreement to allow non-military supplies for its bases in Afghanistan to transit across Russian land routes. But Putin also made clear Moscow would continue to resist policies it views as threats to its national security.
