Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel will not withdraw from the Palestinian territory until Hamas is disarmed. That puts him at odds with US President Donald Trump, who backs the deal. DW's Tania Krämer reports from Jerusalem.

"The IDF will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is disarmed. And when I say disarming Hamas, it means the heavy weapons, the less heavy weapons, and the light weapons, all the weapons," Netanyahu said in a statement.

DW's Tania Krämer says that Netanyahu is sending a message to his own constituency. She also points out that the situation for the people in Gaza remains unchanged, despite a ceasefire agreementbeing in place for many months.
