The votes were tallied in the overnight hours following the Dutch general election. The liberal democrats (VVD) took the most seats, giving Mark Rutte a third term as prime minister, albeit with diminished support. The right nationalists (PVV) of Geert Wilders placed a distant second, scarcely ahead of the Christian Democrats and progressives. The Green-Left surged while Labor was routed.
