The leaders of the U.S., the Palestinian Authority and Israel have agreed to launch peace talks with the goal of reaching a final deal by the end of next year. US President George Bush made the announcement at a middle east peace conference taking place in Annapolis, just outside Washington. Talks on the deal are due to continue later today between Bush, Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the White House.
