Nicolas Maduro denounces US exercises in Trinidad and Tobago

As Donald Trump increases the US's armed presence in the Caribbean, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro slammed planned joint military exercises by the United States and its ally Trinidad and Tobago as "irresponsible."

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has condemned upcoming US naval drills with Trinidad and Tobago, accusing the United States of threatening Venezuela as it builds up its military presence in the Caribbean.

Maduro sang the John Lennon song "Imagine" to call for peace as tensions increase following US strikes on alleged drug-smuggling vessels.

US President Donald Trump  hinted at possible military action. The governments of France and the United Kingdom have voiced concern about the legality of military action and intelligence sharing.
